Schuberth has opened a new wind tunnel

Company Schuberth, expensive and well-known manufacturer of high-quality motorcycle helmets, opened a new own wind tunnel - for testing the aerodynamic properties of products.

In fact - the new lab in Magdeburg - is more than just a wind tunnel. It's an organization called the Schuberth Air & Acoustics Lab. It will also engage in aeroacoustics and conduct climatic tests for helmets - both motorcycle and auto-racing, including the "Formula 1".

In his new capacity the German manufacturer can simulate wind speeds of up to 190 kilometers per hour - inside the pipe. The length of the "core" of the tunnel - 12 meters. The wind also produces a massive 120 kW fan with swing blades at 1.6 meters. Measuring area can be changed in scale - as it should be suitable for motorcycles and cars, "Formula 1" - in the range from 1.5 to 3.9 meters.

Once the German company was the first manufacturer Schuberth helmets in the world who started using his own wind tunnel to develop the design of helmets.

Now, after the upgrade of the pipe, Schuberth has the ability to change the inside temperature and humidity, taking into account more variables - all contribute to fine-tuning the design of helmets.
